How We Work

Open to Everyone

When we say everyone, we mean everyone. We all come with unique stories, experiences, gifts and talents. Every One Every Day is an open invitation to connect and learn from one another across shared interests. Can’t find something that interests you? Need help to register or take part? Our team is here to support you in taking part and connecting with your neighbours.

Beginner to Expert

This isn't about being skilled or an expert in something. It’s about learning and spending time with others, and having support to bring your ideas to life in the neighbourhood. Whatever you enjoy doing or think you might like to try could be something that others are interested in too – we’re here to make it easier to start and grow your ideas.

Easy to take part

Most people have busy lives. Between work, raising children, caring for older relatives and keeping households going, people need opportunities that fit with all the other things going on. These activities will be near where you live, they will be short and at different times of day, and free to attend.

Everyone is valued and able to contribute

The whole neighbourhood matters. Getting involved in Every One Every Day means creating space for everyone to have a say in picking projects, planning, and taking part. The projects outlined in this newspaper are designed to spark ideas around what we could do more of together. Anyone can contribute, including children of all ages - we call them mini-makers.

Projects that benefit the whole community

Every One Every Day is not a volunteering program. We work with residents to help create projects that directly benefit you, your neighbours, friends and family. These benefits might include learning new things, saving you money or time, sharing and trading resources, or making new friends and creating a greater sense of community.

Practical ways of making new connections

These projects see people working together on practical ideas that make their neighbourhoods more exciting and enjoyable places to live. By taking part in these projects people become creators and co-producers of the places in which they live. Over time, we can create networks of people and projects that make everyday life better for everyone.

Meaningful ways to learn about Truth and Reconciliation

We all have a responsibility to learn the truth about Canada’s history, particularly the nation’s relationship with the First Peoples of this land. Every One Every Day strives to create space for important conversations about the truth in our history and how sharing that knowledge contributes towards a more reconciled and socially-just future.
